What You’ll Need

  • cardstock
  • washable paint
  • Father’s Day fish template (download at the end of this post)

What You’ll Do

Download the “Fishing You a Happy Father’s Day” template at the bottom of this post. I prefer to print the template on cardstock. It’s sturdier and less likely to curl from the wet paint.

With a paintbrush or sponge brush, paint your child’s hand their preferred fish color. We used a mixture of yellow and orange, but this is a great idea for your child to get creative.

Gently press your child’s hand down on the paper with their wrist touching the end of the fishing line and their fingertips pointing toward the water.

Once the paint is dry, you can draw an eye and a smile on the fish. For even more fun, you can glue a goggle eye on the dry fish.

That’s it! Your Father’s Day fish handprint card is all done!

Displaying the Handprint Card

When it comes to displaying your Father’s Day Fish Handprint Art, the possibilities are endless! From framing the artwork in a picture frame to making cards out of them, there are plenty of ways to show off your child’s masterpiece.

The easiest way to display this keepsake is to frame it in a picture frame. Not only is it a great way to show off your child’s artwork, but it also makes for easy wall decoration!

If you’d like to make cards out of the artwork, simply cut the paper along the lines of the template and attach each piece on top of a card base. You can even use double-sided tape to secure each piece in place.

No matter how you display it, your handmade Father’s Day Fish Handprint Art will surely bring a smile to Dad’s face and be cherished by him now and in years to come! So what are you waiting for? Let’s get creative – let’s start making memories together! Happy Father’s Day!
