Books About the Sun
Below, I’ve featured just a handful of picture books that will help your preschooler learn about the sun.
You should be able to find them at your local library or bookstore. If you can’t find them locally, you can click each image cover to purchase them on Amazon.
The Sun
With striking, full-color photos and just the right amount of text, this series immediately involves young readers as they discover intriguing facts about the fascinating world around them.
There are many stars in the galaxy. But only the sun wakes us in the morning, helps us grow, plays hide-and-seek behind the clouds, and paints pretty pictures in the evening sky.
This funny and factual picture book explains every part of the Sun’s big job: keeping our solar system together, giving Earth day and night, keeping us warm, and more. In fact, the Sun does so much for us that we wouldn’t be alive without it.
Sun and Moon have always held their own places in the sky, but after a lifetime of darkness Moon wants to trade. Sun agrees, but only if first Moon takes a careful look at his night, before making his final decision.
In the far northern parts of the world, near and above the Arctic Circle, summer days are very long. In Barrow, Alaska, for example, the sun rises in May and sets 83 days later, in early August. During this time, the sun shines all through the night.
Which of these books about the sun will you read first?
Let’s Track What You’re Reading!
It’s fun to track what you read to your preschoolers throughout the school year. It’s even more fun to have your preschoolers track the books they enjoyed.
Parents and teachers can use the Reading Tracker to record the titles of each book they read as well as the date and number of pages.
Children can use the My Book Review page to track the books they listen to and then color a face to show whether they liked each book or not.
If you track what you read, you’ll be amazed at how many books you read each day and month!
